The institute is basically for the Blind, but Orphans , Physically disabled , Homeless children are also accomodated in this school. We aim at rehabilitating them by establishing their selfesteem through Moral , Cultural , Occupational and regular school education so that they come out as healthy and responsible citizens of this society , to lead an independent life in future without becoming a burden on their family and to live as role model for similar such less privileged people in their surroundings.
There are three reasons for starting this school
firstly, I (Shivannad N. Kelur) was working as visiting yoga lecturer at Sidhdharudha matha blind school. At Bangalore, in Majestic area I happened to see one student of that school who had passed with distinction was begging. This made me to think that not only basic qualification is necessary to lead a normal life for Blind student. Their need much more skills than the normal people to lead a good life.So we decided to create self-confidence, self-reliant life to our students and this is our motto. Secondly, these students are not allowed to compete in any competition, so we came up with an idea to start our own Institute that would encourage student to compete in various competitions around the world.
Thirdly, we were inspired by Ben Underwood an American, who diagnosed with retinal cancer at the age of two had his eyes removed at the age of three. He discovered echolocation at the age of five. He was able to detect the location of objects by making frequent clicking noises with his tongue. He used it to accomplish such feats as running, playing basketball, riding a bicycle, rollerblading, playing football, and skateboarding. Underwood's child eye doctor claimed that Underwood was one of the most proficient human echolocations. We want to train blind student to cope up with day to day work and lead a life like a normal human being.
